His story is amazing. I once read that John Coltrane told him to keep doing what he was doing because he was "on to something." And If you didn't know, in 1980 he had surgery because of a brain aneurysm. Afterwards he had complete amnesia. He woke up knowing nothing about himself and he had to relearn how to play is guitar. His interviews are always inspiring; this one I love. He is a superhero because of his recovery and strength of his inner will. He had to relearn everything. I prefer tabla bols to his perfection Tabula rasa. Can you imagine someone playing you this live recording and saying you can relearn this. "Sure you can. Just start with a simple scale,"...and believe them!
Ive been told this is out of print. This version is from Japan- of course. Here is Martino in his first prime....The first time I played this in my lonely Shikouian alcove I plucked the goosebumps off my skin just to bring me back to Earth. The version of the pop song Sunny is timeless. I hadn't heard the song since the era of station wagons and Gremlins.
