A nice music video from Rafter, an old pal and former boss who's made a bazillion excellent recordings. I saw him do an excellent, if underattended, show last night. He's playing again tonight at Southpaw if any Brooklyn folks are reading this.

Fire of Birds

Been digging on this Asthmatic Kitty artist lately: D.M. Stith, saw him live a month ago or so and he knocked my socks off. The 'Heavy Ghost' album is well named: heavy AND ghostly. Not heavy in a heavy metal way: heavy in an emotionally fraught way.

Fans of things like Grizzly Bear, Sufjan, etc. (you know, contemporary indie-soft-rock-with-smarts) will almost certainly fall hard for this. Beware of the spooky layered harmonies, though, if you open your ears up too wide they may devour your gooey brainstem like grim little sound-zombies.
